» Day 1:
We will meet you at the airport, welcome you, and take you over to your hotel. Later you will have a wonderful tour of the magical city of Cusco, ancient capital of the Inca Empire. You will visit Plaza Recocijo, the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, the Santo Domingo monastary, the legendary Temple of the Koricancha , and the old town of Cusco with its narrow alleys and streets. The we’ll head up above Cusco and see the fantastic Incan ruins of Sacsahuaman, constructed of perfectly cut stones the size of a truck; the sacrificial underground grotto of Qenqo; the fortress guarding the road into the capital, Pucapucara; and the Tambo Machay, the sacred water temple.
» Day 2:
We will head out of town toward Urubamba, which is in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. On the way we will stop in Pisac, where you will have the chance to shop in the famous Pisac artisans’ market. After a wonderful lunch near the river, we’ll journey to the Incan fortress at Ollantaytambo. This Inca site was being constructed just when the Spanish first arrived here. You can see evidence of how the construction proceeded. After visiting the magnificent buildings of the past, you can walk around the picturesque streets of present day Ollantaytambo.
» Day 3:
We will go over to the train station at Ollantaytambo, and board the train to Machu Picchu. Upon arriving in Agua Calientes, we will ride the bus ( 25 minutes) up the mountain to the Lost City of the Incas. Then we will enjoy a guided tour all around this splendid citadel, a which is sure to be an unforgettable experience. After your tour, you will have free time to explore Machu Picchu on your own. Lunch is , of course, included. In the afternoon we will retrace our steps to Aguas Calientes, where we catch the Cusco bound train. Once back in Cusco, you will be driven over to your hotel.
» Day 4:
We will pick you up in the morning at your hotel, and bring you to the airport, and make sure you safely board your plane that will take you back to Lima or on to your next destination.
* Throughout your stay in Cusco, our staff will be constantly ready to fulfill your every need.
* If you would like, you may visit other parts of Cusco during your City Tour.
Hotels will be available for you in Cusco, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, and and in Aguas Calientes ( Machu Picchu Pueblo).

INFORMATION ABOUT HUAYNA PICCHU
This is an option for those of you who love a good adventure. For those who have climbed Huayna Picchu, it is an experience indelibly imprinted on their memory. It is by far the best view of Machu Picchu and all of the beautiful peaks in the surrounding area. In order to make the climb, you would have to spend one night in Aguas Calientes. The following morning you will be awoken at 4:30 am. Then you will ride the early bus up to the ruins, so you can obtain your free pass enabling you to climb Huayna Picchu. They only allow 400 people per day to make the climb. Once you have your ticket, you can decide to make the ascent either at 8 am or at 10 am. Whatever time you decide to climb, we will make sure that you will still have time to fit in your guided tour of Machu Picchu.

Security in Peru
Make copies of your identification documents. Put the originals in the safety deposit box at your hotel.
Make a list of what you are placing in the safety deposit box, and make sure the hotel agrees to be responsible for all items deposited.
Be careful about carrying around possessions that are very valuable.Don’t carry around large sums of cash.Always keep an eye on your personal possessions.

To place international calls, you can call from a public payphone, or you can go into a shop that features long distance service..( these are called “locutorios”)

Staying Healthy in Peru
Don’t eat on the street.Don’t buy from street venders.
Take it easy when you first arrive in a city like Cusco, which is over 10,000 ft. above sea level. Eat light. Don’t smoke or drink alcohol, in order to avoid altitude sickness. Drinking coca tea is recommended.
If you are traveling to the jungle, be sure to bring insect repellant and rain gear.

Money in Peru
It is recommended that you change your money into local currency ( soles ) at authorized locations, such as banks, hotels, and money changing offices. They are usually open from 9:00 am.til 6:00 pm. The exact rate of exchange varies daily, but it is about 2.75 soles per U.S. dollar.
The Benefits of Drinking Coca Tea
Coca tea is a recommended food in the Andes, both for men and women. By drinking coca tea daily, you will obtain your minimum daily requirement of calcium. Coca tea also contains vitamins and trace elements to keep you fit. It is a great supplement to your daily diet.
Studies show that 100 grams of coca leaf contain 2 grams of potassium, which is needed to regulate your heart rate. The actual concentration of the cocaine alkaloid in coca leaf is very low, and taken in tea in its natural state, does not lead to dependence and is not toxic. So coca tea is considered both a beneficial food and a medicine.
Investigations undertaken by pharmacologists at the University of Caldas show that drinking coca tea is beneficial to your health and helps combat the effects altitude sickness, which is called “soroche“ in Peru.
